On the 27th of April, it’s Kings Day in the Netherlands. By tradition, everything is orange that day. For this year, we made a Farmer’s Cake with orange frosting and candy on top. The kids love it! Among grown-ups, it’s more of a love-hate relationship, but the cake is always good. Here’s the recipe for this orange cake loaf.
Last week we posted the recipe for Farmers Cake, and yesterday we posted the recipe for the frosting. If the frosting is too liquid to make the drops on the side of the cake, you’ll want to add more powdered sugar to the frosting. This makes the frosting drier/thicker. To make the frosting orange, you have to add food coloring. We added 5 drops of orange and one drop of red. We added a bit of red food coloring to make the orange darker. You can add all kinds of toppings on top according to taste. We used macarons, and candy. Serve this orange cake loaf on Kings day or on any other day that you like of course, enjoy!
