Caldera de Taburiente National Park, La Palma

Nestled in the heart of La Palma, the Canary Islands, Caldera de Taburiente National Park is a great area to hike with a lot of amazing viewpoints. In this article, we delve into two amazing hikes that showcase the park’s natural wonders.

Caldera de Taburiente National Park
Roque de los Muchachos

Ascend to the pinnacle of La Palma at Roque de los Muchachos, the island’s highest peak. While en route, make a pit stop at the Observatory, where an array of telescopes invites stargazers and astronomers. There’s also an interesting museum about the telescopes and observatories to be found there. The final 300-meter stretch from the parking area to the viewpoint is an absolute must-do. Revel in panoramic views at the mountaintop. Be aware that the parking at the top is small, so make sure you’re on time for a parking spot, or you’ll have to wait for a visitor to leave.

Mirador de la Cumbrecita

Serving as a panoramic view and the trailhead for multiple hiking paths, Mirador de la Cumbrecita offers a captivating experience. Due to limited parking, it’s essential to reserve a spot in advance, either through the office at El Paso or through their website (this is the link we used). Various hiking trails of diverse lengths and difficulty levels emanate from this vantage point. We did the circular route to Lomo de las Chozas, a manageable but fun 3-kilometer trek.

A visit to Caldera de Taburiente National Park is a must-do at La Palma. Immerse yourself in the island’s beauty through these amazing hikes.
